Introduction QRIS Payment

QRIS is an Indonesian standard QR code established by Bank Indonesia and Asosiasi Sistem Pembayaran Indonesia (ASPI) to facilitate cashless payment in Indonesia. 

QRIS was established on August, 17th 2019 and Midtrans applied this payment method starting on January, 1st 2020. By using QRIS, different QR transactions could be paid using one standardized QR, no matter what QRIS supporting app the customer is using (GoPay, OVO, Dana, Linkaja, or even some mobile banking applications that already have a QR scanner (such as BCA, Sinarmas, Maybank, CIMB, etc.)

The benefit of using QRIS

a. For Merchant

  • Easily accepting the cashless transaction
  • Merchants only need to do one registration process to get QRIS which can later be used to receive payments from any application that supports QRIS payments
  • Expanding the market for cashless payment

b. For Customer

  • Flexibility in choosing payment instruments
  • Customer doesn’t have to own a lot of supporting QRIS app because QRIS  can receive payment from all applications

The difference between QRIS and QR-GoPay

a. QRIS can be paid through many payment applications that support QRIS transactions. GoPay QR can only be paid through Gojek app

b. QRIS has a maximum limit per transaction of IDR 2 million
